A petition has been filed before the Lahore High Court against the appointment of Salman Faruqui as Federal Ombudsman. The petitioner Peer Ali Imran contended that appointment of Salman Faruqui has been on political basis. The petitioner says the Federal Government wants to delay 75,000 applications against it pending before the Federal Ombudsman. He, therefore, prayed to the court to set aside the appointment of Faruqui by declaring it illegal.
